Central Queens Health Centre (Hunter River)
Central Queens Family Health Centre provides appropriate health care services to the individuals and communities of the Central Queens Region based on the principles of Primary Health Care.The Central Queens Family of Health Centres consists of two sites, the main site in Hunter River and a satellite site located in North Rustico. The primary health care team is the first level of contact with individuals, the family and community. Our team includes physicians, nurse practitioner, nurses, a mental health worker, administrative staff, and public health nurses. There are two community advisory groups which provide development and planning support. Health and wellness information sessions are provided as part of the Centre’s programming. The Centre continues to work with the community to develop other programs.
Programs:
- Blood Pressure Clinics: for the clientele of the Central Queens population. Purpose- to provide awareness, monitoring and teaching related to hypertension.
- Mental Health Services: for the clientele of the Central Queens population. Purpose to provide mental health services in the community, improved accessability and followup.
- Health and Wellness Session: for clientele of the Central Queens population. The purpose is to provide educational sessions on topics related to health and health promotion as well as provide screening opportunities for the detection of diabetes and hypertension.
- Annual Flu Clinics: for the clientele of the Central Queens population the clinics provide immunizations to reduce the impact of illness in our communities.
