Casual Licensed Practical Nurse
CASUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES (UPSE)

Location:Tyne Valley Health Centre, Tyne Valley

(COMMENCING IMMEDIATELY)

The Licensed Practical Nurse coordinates the utilization of examination rooms by physicians and advanced practice nurses in a multi-disciplinary team environment within Tyne Valley Health Centre. The position assists physicians and advanced practice nurses before, during, and after the patient examination. This position reports to the Primary Care Coordinator West. Duties may include:

∙ perform the standard functions of a certified LPN including vital sign assessment, injections, etc.;

∙ participate in health promotion programs as required;

∙ help the team identify patient and family health needs and provide appropriate teaching for health promotion/disease management;

∙ may be assigned to work with a specific physician or advanced practice nurse;

∙ performing other related duties.

Bi-Weekly Hours: Days, Evenings, and weekends / 7.5 and 11.25 hour shifts. Casual employees are called on short notice to relieve staff that are on leave or unavailable for work.

Qualifications:

∙ The successful applicant will possess a valid license with the Licensed Practical Nurses Association / Registrar of Prince Edward Island;

∙ Demonstrate ability in dealing with the public in a professional, helpful and courteous manner;

∙ Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential;

∙ Maintain highly confidential information;

∙ Demonstrate proficiency working in a computerized environment that includes word processing, e-mail and scheduling;

∙ Must be willing to work in a multi-disciplinary team; and,

∙ The successful applicant must have a good previous work and attendance record.

∙ The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory criminal records check prior to beginning employment Other:

∙ Knowledge of community resources is an asset.

∙ Experience in working in a primary care environment is an asset.
