Bilingual Mental Health Social Worker "Correction"
Full Time Permanent (UPSE) Position
Department: Health PEI
Location:Evangeline Community Health Centre, Wellington and CMH, Summerside
(COMMENCING IMMEDIATELY)
Preference will be given to employees of Health and all Government Departments
Primary Location: Evangeline This position provides clinical services to the spectrum of clients presenting with mental health problems. The incumbent is expected to perform intake and screening functions, and to provide assessment, treatment and consultation, counselling to children, adults and families experiencing a wide variety of mental disorders. Duties will include:
- working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team with a Community Health Centre in partnership with the school personnel and other government or community agencies;
- receiving and screening referrals and conducting intake interviews as required for case assignment purposes;
- developing next step mental health treatment plans that will deal with the immediate crisis and serve as a beginning process to a long-term treatment intervention;
- responding to and dealing with emergency calls or walk-in clients in a crisis situation or a potentially violent situation;
- precisely assessing and classifying with clinical impressions included, the client’s mental health issues / complaints / problems taking into consideration the environmental, individual, familial and social perspective; as well as assessing for suicidal thoughts, behaviour and plans;
- identifying resources and facilitating referrals to community resources;
- participating in conferences with other professionals to provide advice or guidelines concerning mental health and its impact on areas such as child welfare, addictions, seniors care, etc.;
- maintaining and protecting confidential records and case reporting as part of the case management process;
- providing a variety of professional and educational services that contribute to the overall goals of the region; and
- other related duties.
Bi-Weekly Hours: 75.0 hours bi-weekly / Days / possibility of evenings and weekends
Qualifications:
∙ The successful applicant must have a Master’s degree in Social Work and must be registered with the P.E.I .Social Work Registration Board in good standing.
∙ Considerable experience in a mental health setting.
∙ Applicants are required to be proficient in both French and English, oral and written.
∙ The successful applicant must have a good previous work and attendance record.
Other Qualifications:
∙ Experience with crisis intervention in a mental health setting would be an asset.
∙ The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory criminal records check prior to beginning employment.
