Manager Diagnostic Imaging
Full Time Permanent (Excluded) Position
Department : Health PEI
Location : Prince County Hospital, Summerside
(COMMENCING IMMEDIATELY)
The Manager of Diagnostic Imaging (DI) assumes leadership, administrative and supervisory responsibilities related to the overall operations of the Diagnostic Imaging Department of Prince County Hospital. This includes maintaining departmental procedures and standards regarding radiological examinations, overseeing the planning and implementation of new technologies, providing day to day leadership and ensuring the effective and efficient operations of the department in conjunction with the clinical guidance of the supervising Radiologist. Duties include:
- assumes a leadership role in development, implementation and evaluation processes for strategic planning, quality and risk management requirements that ensures a comprehensive and technologically advanced radiology department; assumes a leadership role in the Accreditation process ensuring safe, patient-focused quality care;
- ensure that X-ray, fluoroscopy and ancillary equipment are maintained and operated safely and effectively; administer the radiation safety program by ensuring the usage, exchange and inspection of monitoring devices in accordance with federal/provincial standards and procedures;
- determine, requisition, and promote the efficient utilization of materials / supplies required for the operations of the department;
- remain current of developments in the Diagnostic Imaging field to identify possible improvements;
- identify and respond to training and development needs of staff; conduct performance evaluations; maintain appropriate numbers and deployment of staff in the department by developing patient assignments, staff work rotations, etc.;
- direct and supervise the activities of all PCH Diagnostic Imaging staff;
- maintain accountability for all budgetary responsibilities for the department;
- foster effective working relations within the department, between the departments and physicians, other hospital departments and outside users;
- other related duties.
Bi-Weekly Hours: 75.0 hours bi-weekly / Days / Monday - Friday
Qualifications :
- Applicants must have a university degree or a combination of diploma from a formal program in a Diagnostic Imaging modality and successful completion of a recognized program of study in departmental management and be eligible for national certification in the respective speciality; Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered;
- Applicants must have considerable experience working in a general hospital Diagnostic Imaging Department with knowledge and experience in radiology information and technical systems;
- Considerable employment experience in a supervisory / management position is required, as well as demonstrated knowledge and experience in a leadership change management role with the ability to convert conceptual plans into practice;
- A proven ability to foster and work in a supportive team environment is essential. Applicants must have a good previous work and attendance record.
- The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory criminal records check prior to beginning employment.
