Important lands protected along north shore of Prince Edward Island

The Nature Conservancy of Canada and the Government of Prince Edward Island have teamed up to protect a 75-acre dune and wetland site at Deroche Pond, along the north shore of Prince Edward Island.

Through a partnership with Cavendish Farms, the Province of Prince Edward Island is purchasing 96 acres of agricultural land in the Barclay Brook area to help protect Island rivers and fish habitat.

New investments of $9 million over three years will help to ensure that Island youth can access enhanced mental health and addictions treatment here in Prince Edward Island.

Prince Edward Islandís system of protected Natural Areas expanded recently with the addition of four privately owned properties totalling 68 hectares in the Hazel Grove area of Queens County.
