The mandate of the Employment Standards Branch is to administer the Employment Standards Act. The Act establishes employee entitlements with respect to payment of wages, vacation pay, statutory holidays, notice of termination, minimum wage rates, overtime pay, as well as maternity and parental leave protection.In carrying out its mandate, the Employment Standards Branch provides factual information to the public through telephone contact, office interviews, information sessions, routine inspections and distribution of publications.
