Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal

New:

Route 25A, West Covehead – Due to the beginning of a culvert replacement project, West Covehead Road (formerly Route 25A) will be closed between Route 6 (at Cass' Corner) and Route 25 until Friday, October 4.

Charlottetown, West Royalty – Work will be occurring to upgrade the traffic lights at the intersection of University Avenue and Buchanan Drive at Charlottetown Mall; minor delays expected (information provided by the City of Charlottetown).

Trans Canada Highway realignment updates:

• A one-kilometre section of the realignment is open to traffic between Churchill and Encounter Creek.

• Traffic in both directions will be temporarily detoured around the excavation site at Encounter Creek where the existing highway crosses the realignment; two-way traffic will be maintained.

• The newly constructed Eric’s Cross Road is open as a connector between the realignment and the former highway in Churchill (renamed Churchill Road).

• Peters Road is now open to through traffic.

• Speed limit through work zones is 60 kilometres per hour; speed limit on the realignment between McManus Road and Eric’s Cross Road is 90 kilometres per hour.

Completed:

Route 4, Primrose – Resurfacing work has been completed.

Route 2, Midgell – Resurfacing work has been completed.

Keppoch Road, Stratford – Construction between Bonavista Avenue and Park Lane is complete.

Route 1, Trans Canada Highway in Stratford – Stratford Utility Corporation has finished constructing a new water main.

Queens County:

Route 207, Garfield Road – Installation of fiber optic cable between Route 205-Colville Road and Route 206-Iona Road is underway. Two-way, one-lane traffic will be maintained; minor delays are expected (information provided by Atlantic Enterprises Ltd.).

Charlottetown, Spring Park – Work on the combined sewer separation project continues on North River Road, Riverview Drive and Nassau Street. Detours are in place between Hope and Kirkwood drives; at Queen Street and Selkirk Crescent for work on Nassau Street; and Riverview Drive will be closed from Trafalgar Street to North River Road (information provided by City of Charlottetown).

Route 1, Trans Canada Highway in Desable – Highway will be under construction from the Desable Bridge to Route 19. One-way traffic will be maintained during construction hours; minor delays are expected.

Kentyre Road Bridge – A portion of Kentyre Road will be closed for the bridge replacement project, which is scheduled to last approximately two months.

Route 13, Crapaud – Road is closed west of Hall’s Lane; revised detour is in place on Route 231 and Balaklava Road.

Prince County:

Route 141, Dunblane – A weight restriction is in place on Dunblane Bridge, Stephen Road, Route 141: 5500 kg max gross, 4500 kg max axle.

Kings County:

Marie Bridge – Work continues on the replacement project. Two-way, one-lane traffic will be maintained, and stop-and-go lights and signage are directing motorists.
