Agricultural Insurance Corporation moves to Kensington
Agriculture and Forestry
“Relocating the Prince Edward Island Agriculture Insurance Corporation to Kensington reflects government’s commitment to create new economic opportunities in rural communities across the province,” said Minister Webster. “The move will provide services from a central location making more efficient use of government assets.”
The new head office of AIC will be located in the former Potato Services Building in Kensington, which is owned by the province. AIC was housed on the Research Station property in Charlottetown, which is owned by the federal government.
AIC is a crown corporation that provides crop insurance and income support programs to farmers. The programs are jointly funded by the federal and provincial governments. There are approximately 42 permanent and casual employees, many of whom work in field positions.
“The relocation will save government money as AIC moves from a rented facility to a provincially owned building,” said the minister.
AIC will close October 9 and will re-open in Kensington Friday, October 11. The new address is 7 Gerald MacCarville Drive, Kensington, PEI. Tel: (902) 836-0435 or toll-free: 1-855-251-9695.
