How does it work?
- Apply for the audit assistance program with the PEI Office of Energy Efficiency.
- Book an energy assessment with a company licensed to provide the residential energy assessment service for MURBs.
- An energy advisor performs an initial energy efficiency assessment and provides a detailed written pre-upgrade report that includes:
o An analysis of the building’s energy loss;
o Customized recommendations for cost effective upgrades;
o The building’s current energy efficiency rating; and
o The potential rating based on recommended upgrades.
· To receive the Energy Audit Assistance as indicated above, submit the original copy of the paid Invoice for the Audit to the Office Of Energy Efficiency and you will be reimbursed for the Provinces portion of the cost.
Complete some or all of the upgrades in the pre-upgrade report as recommended by your energy advisor within 18 months from the date on your report and schedule a post-upgrade assessment (no additional cost to you).
- The energy advisor will return to conduct the post-upgrade assessment and provide a new energy efficiency rating.
- Submit the completed application form along with the following documents:
o Copies of both the initial and final reports;
o The checklist provided by the energy advisor which confirms the energy upgrades;
o Receipts for upgrade work (materials and labour. We need to see the original receipts and will make a copy for our files allowing you to keep your original receipt).
- A grant cheque is mailed to the eligible applicants.
- Loan applications will be processed through the Office of Energy Efficiency (only available for owner-occupied 2-3 unit MURBs).
