ORDER OF PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND (O.P.E.I.)
The Lieutenant Governor is the Chancellor of the Order of Prince Edward Island and was invested as a member of order on her installation on July 31, 2006. The Order of Prince Edward Island is the highest honour the Province can bestow. It is the giving of public recognition to individual Islanders whose efforts and accomplishments truly have been exemplary.
The Lieutenant Governor has a personal flag, called the vice-regal standard, which is flown on his vehicle and at Government House when His Honour is in residence. It is royal blue in colour with the shield of arms of the Province surrounded by a circlet of 10 gold maple leaves, representing the provinces of Canada. Above the shield is St. Edward’s crown which symbolizes the dignity of the Lieutenant Governor as the Sovereign’s representative in the Province.
