July 5, 1860 "...Went up after to RC Chapel building when Edward Buckerfield and I went up the spire as far as the ladder would permit inside where a very extensive view is obtained...a very handsome church nearly finished." Wed. July 10, 1861 "...In afternoon drove to RC Chapel now completed. A handsome brick building with stained glass windows and capable of accomodating about 1500 persons..." Wed.
