Lumsden captured many local events of the areas surrounding Murray Harbour. This photograph of the Women's Patriotic Society spinning frolic held September 7, 1915 was documented by a local newspaper. Thirty-nine spinning wheels and close to 50 women were assembled to spin yarn for the manufacturing of socks for soldiers at the front.
