Family Violence and Its Impact on Children - Island Focus 2000



Everyone has a moral responsibility to protect children as well as a legal obligation to report cases of suspected child abuse in Prince Edward Island. This segment takes a look at the impact of family violence on children as well as activities to raise awareness about family violence among children and youth.

Women Abuse Protocols - Island Focus 2002



In Prince Edward Island, an average of 30 women and children use support services through Transition House Association each week.  As public awareness of family violence grew over past years, it became clear that policies and protocols needed to be put in place for safe, effective and appropriate responses for victims of women abuse.

Family Violence Prevention - Island Focus 2003



In 1981, the first private member's motion was made to the House of Commons to address family violence.  It is now over three decades later and many changes have taken place to address this important issue, yet domestic violence continues.

In Prince Edward Island, the Premier's Action Committee on Family Violence Prevention, made up of representatives from education to the legal system, is currently working to address family violence prevention
