McQuaid, Charles R.

Biographical history

Charles R. McQuaid was born in 1918 in Sydney, Nova Scotia. He was called to the Bar in 1944 and became Queen's Counsel in 1963. He practiced law in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, until 1972 when he was appointed Judge of the County Court. In 1975 he became a Justice of the Supreme Court of Prince Edward Island, moving to the Appeals Divison of that Court in 1987. He served in this capacity until his retirement in 1990.

Since retirement, Justice McQuaid has been involved in researching and documenting specific subjects in the judicial history of Prince Edward Island.
