History
John Dixon, possibly of England, was born ca. 1781. In 1816 he married Sarah Roper (born ca. 1792) of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The couple eventually settled in what would become known as Highfield, four miles north-west of Charlottetown in Winsloe, Lot 33. John Dixon is listed variously as having been a farmer, well-digger, and retailer of liquor. At one time he held an appointment as fence viewer for the Malpeque and North River Roads. John and Sarah had nine children: Alexander (b. 1817), Daniel (b. 1818), John (b. 1820), George (b. 1822), James (b. 1824), Ann (b. ca. 1825), Sarah (b. ca. 1830), and Susan (n.d.). John died 9 July 1858. Sarah passed away 20 March 1882.
