The Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire (I.O.D.E), a patriotic, non-sectarian, non-partisan, and philanthropic Canadian women's organization was founded in Canada in 1900. The mission of the IODE is to improve the quality of life for children, youth, and those in need through educational, social services, and citizenship programs. The vision of the IODE is to improve the physical and emotional health and expand the educational opportunities of all Canadians within a unified country. IODE was previously known as the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire, but today IODE is not an acronym. Th Earl of Hillsborough Chapter was still active in Prince Edward Island as of 2009.
