Sealey, John H.

Biographical history

John H. Sealey, born on 28 November 1878, was the son of Henry and Mary Sealey, of Mt. Albion, Lot 48, Prince Edward Island. His siblings included Samuel, Frances, Daniel and Ida Gertrude. John apparently joined the U.S. military and was part of the American forces sent to deal with the insurrection in the Philippines at the turn of the century.

Scope and content

The fonds contains photocopies of four letters (and enclosures) from John to his mother and sister Gertrude from San Francisco and from the Philippines from 1899 to 1901. Letters contain descriptions of his geographical locations and living conditions, a record of his health, and references to friends and family members.
