Scope and content

The subseries consists of letterbooks of the Rolls Court and the Vice-Chancellor's Court. They are primarily written by the registrar or deputy registrar but occasionally bear the signature of the Master of the Rolls or the Vice-Chancellor. They deal with matters re. cases being heard by the Court of Chancery including fees, payments, decisions, and the transmittal of documents, instructions and orders. They are often addressed to solicitors, Justices of the Peace, Sheriffs, and individuals involved in the cases. They are arranged in chronological order.
