Biographical history

Marion Murphy Macdonald was born on 21 March 1847 in Telbury, Gloucestershire, England. She married Archibald J. Macdonald (1834-1917) of Georgetown, Prince Edward Island on 1 July 1873 in Charlottetown. The couple had eight children. Marion died on 13 June 1921 in Georgetown.

Scope and content

The subseries consists of papers belonging to Marion Murphy Macdonald, wife of Archibald J. Macdonald, for the period 1873 to 1921. The subseries includes a copy of Marion's baptismal record issued June 1873 (with information about her marriage and children written at a later time on the verso), name cards and a list of people who called on the Macdonalds on their wedding day (1 July 1873), three dance cards from July 1873, correspondence to and from family regarding personal and family activities, and a prayer card for Marion Macdonald (d. 13 June 1921). The subseries also includes a notebook believed to have belonged to Marion (1868) containing a collection of crests cut from letterhead and pasted into the book.
