De la Roque 1752 Isle de Bedec; Holand 1765, Chart 1849, Wright and Cundall 1874, Meacham 1880, and Department of Interior 1914 Indian Island. Wyld 1845 Dunk I. Formerly called Flynn's Island for an eccentric hermit who lived on it; formerly known as Pope's Island for J. C. Pope who owned it before Holman.
