Administrative history

The Loyal Orange Lodge was a Protestant Organization, founded on the landmarks of the British Constitution in 1690. The first Orange Lodge established on Prince Edward Island was Boyne, Number 614 in 1855. By 1866, there were thirty-six Orange Lodges established in Prince Edward Island.

Scope and content

The Report of the Sixth Annual Session of the Loyal Orange Lodge was held at the Provincial Lodge in Charlottetown on Tuesday, the 14 February 1866. This report contains an address given by Provincial Grand Master Sir J.B. Cooper which discussed such topics as the unsuccessful attempts of the lodge to apply for an act of incorporation in 1863, the Fenian Invasions of 1865, the Grand Council meeting in London, England on the 17th July 1865, to which PEI was to send one representative, as well as information concerning the opening of new lodges throughout PEI that year. The report also contains the reports of the finance, correspondence, and appeals committees, and the minutes of the semi-annual meeting held at the Provincial Grand Lodge on the 3 July 1866, and the financial statement for the Loyal Orange Lodge of PEI for 1866.
