For reasons unknown, the baptismal registers have been filmed twice. Both reels of microfilm are located in the microfilm cabinets in the Reading Room
In 1894 the Church of Scotland began ministering to a circuit comprised of Mermaid, Lot 48, Churchill, and adjacent communities in Prince Edward Island. The first minister for this charge was the newly ordained Rev. Daniel McLean of Mt. Herbert. Rev. MacLean had been educated at Prince of Wales College and taught in Island schools for fifteen years before studying divinity at Pine Hill College in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He administered the circuit until his death in 1919. Rev. D. M. Lamont then took up the duties of the charge.

Acc3060/2, containing only the baptismal registers, was formerly Acc3677 - Church of Scotland baptisms fonds : [1894-1928]
This fonds consists of three baptismal registers microfilmed in chronological order. The first two books record the baptisms preformed by Rev. Daniel MacLean in the years 1894-1914 and 1913-1919. The third book is a record of baptisms performed by Rev. D. M. Lamont from 1920-1928. Each book is preceded by an alphabetical index of its contents. The fonds also contains deaths (1925-1926) and marriages (1921-1925) for the Mermaid, Lot 48 and Churchill circuit.
The registers of baptisms, marriages, and deaths were loaned to the Public Archives and Records Office by an unknown source for microfilming via the Prince Edward Island Museum and Heritage Foundation in 1978. The baptismal registers were loaned for copying again on 4 August 1985 by Rev. John Cameron of the Kirk of St. James
Originals were returned to donor after microfilming in 1985
