History

The St. Colomba congregation in Marshfield, Prince Edward Island, was established in 1830. The first church, located on the St. Peters Road in Marshfield, was built that same year. This initial church, built in connection with the Free Church of Scotland, collapsed during a severe gale. The present church was built in 1864 by the Free Church of Scotland and Baptist organizations together with the Presbyterian Church of Nova Scotia. Reverend William McLaren of the Church of Scotland was appointed to the Marshfield and Brackley Point Road Presbyterian congregations in December of 1857. In 1905 Marshfield separated from the Covehead and Stanhope Churches and in 1925 united with the Mt. Stewart and Harrington charges.
