Roland G. Taylor was born on 25 September 1916, the son of Reginald and Elizabeth Taylor of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He married Marion Geldert (b. 15 June 1920) of Morell in June 1942. They had three sons (Richard, Dennis, Gregory) and two daughters (Marsha, Leah-Jane), and the family lived in Charlottetown, first on Ambrose Street and later on Waverly Court. In 1946 Roland and his brother Earl took over the family business in Charlottetown, Taylors Jewellers, which had been opened in 1879 by their grandfather as G. H. Taylor's. They both died in a car accident at Emyvale on 26 August 1984.
