Notice biographique
Temple William Faber Macdonald was born on 27 January 1875 in Georgetown, Prince Edward Island to Archibald J. Macdonald (1834-1917) and Marion Murphy (1847-1921). Temple was involved in the family businesses in Georgetown and was a Member of the Legislative Assembly from 1912 to 1914 as a representative for 5th Kings. He married Martha McInnis in West Somerville, Massachusetts, United States. Following the outbreak of World War I, Temple enlisted in the armed forces and left the province for Quebec in 1914 where he was named a Lieutenant in the artillery. He later served with the 98th Battalion and was briefly stationed at the Charlottetown camp in 1915 before being deployed overseas around the end of that year. Temple was named Captain in February 1916 after service in France and he later served with 5th Siege Battery as a Major. Temple was wounded in France in March 1918 and died of his wounds 2 April 1918. He is buried in Aubigny Communal Cemetery, France.

The subseries consists of personal papers and other material relating to Temple W. F. Macdonald for the period 1897 to 1918, as well as official records, correspondence, and other materials (1918-1919) sent to his family following his death in France during World War I. The subseries includes diaries and notebooks, some of which include details from his time overseas; correspondence to and from family; and military service papers. A Nominal Roll of Officers and Men Enlisted for Active Service (1915), including list of names, enlistment dates, next of kin, and other information can also be found in the subseries.
