4-H Summer Student Employment Opportunity


Summer is one of the busiest times in the 4-H PEI year!

Each year (pending funding) the Provincial Council hires a post-secondary summer student to assist the permanent provincial staff team from mid-May to the end of August, helping to ensure the success of: 
  • Selections Day
  • Club and District Achievement Days
  • 4-H Summer Camp4-H programming at Fairs and Exhibitions Island-wide, including the Crapaud Exhibition, Alberton Exhibition, Old Home Week, and the Dundas Plowing Match
  • Other activities, as planned
4-H Summer Students also work with 4-H staff on projects such as:
  • Club Reorganization preparation
  • Fund Development
  • Communications
  • Outgoing and professional demeanor
  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills
  • Experience working with youth
  • Ability to work and problem-solve independently and as a team member
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills and experience with word processing and database software
  • Comfortable working in an office setting and at public events
  • Familiarity with the 4-H program
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or First Aid Training is an asset

Applicants must:
  • Have completed at least year of post-secondary education, or equivalent and be planning to attending a post-secondary institute in Canada in September 2017
  • Have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours and overtime, including evenings and weekends
  • Must be able to complete tasks involving physical labour, which might occasionally involve heavy lifting
  • Successfully pass a Police Record Search (including Vulnerable Sector Screening)
