1947 Four Summerside residents see "a bright, luminous object travelling at great height in the air." The Guardian notes this "could have been one of the so-called 'flying saucers' reported having been seen in the western United States and Canada."

Basin Head Fisheries Museum

Situated on the bluff overlooking the Northumberland Strait, Basin Head Fisheries Museum tells the story of PEI’s historic inshore fishery with all new displays and exhibits that will take you back in time. Visit the Cannery for a glimse at what the fishing industry really looked like!

While at Basin Head, wander the boardwalk and stroll along the magnificent white “singing” sands.  Discover Sun, Sand and Suf, the large museum gift shop, right on the boardwalk. Also located on site is The Scoop for icecream treats and cold drinks and there are beach services and a children's play village.
