1792 A group of Charlottetonians follows Donald McIntire as he is whipped through the town. His crime: petty larceny. His punishment: three sets of 36 lashes, delivered over the course of three weeks. The Court is lenient McIntire only gets 72. Flogging persists as a punishment well into the 1840s.
