District #26 Alberton - Roseville
Pat Murphy was elected to the Legislature of Prince Edward Island in the provincial election held on May 28, 2007.
A Liberal Member of the Legislative Assembly, he was elected to represent the constituency of Alberton - Roseville.
He was appointed to the additional responsibilities as Member of the Standing Committee on Fisheries, Intergovernmental Affairs and Transportation and the Standing Committee on Public Accounts.
Pat Murphy is a local business owner-operator of the Alberton Irving, an involved community volunteer and a former Mayor of the Town of Alberton.
Over the last number of years, he has worked on a number of positive developments for the Alberton area, including downtown enhancement project; Jacques Cartier arena renovations; relocation of town offices to the historic railway station; a new federal building on Main Street and a youth skateboarding facility.
In addition to his contribution to municipal government, Pat Murphy has served as a member of the Alberton Area Development Corporation; was a Director of the Tignish Credit Union; and is a strong supporter of the Alberton Minor Hockey Association among other community activities.
Pat Murphy lives in Alberton with his wife Karen and son Drew.
