History of the Name |
The official history of the geographic name Blooming Point (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):
Formerly called Tracadie Sand-hills, not named after any particular person, place or thing, but just to distinguis h it from the other Tracadies. (Peter Lacey, postmaster, 1905). "Selected name.earlier known as Tracadie Sand-hills." -PN of PEI, 1925. Blooming Point (Sett.) was adopted in Place Names of PEI, 1925. Confirmed 3 December 1946 on 11L/7.Status changed to Locality in 1960 Gazetteer.Confirmed 23 October 1989 on 203-8 as a Locality.
