The official history of the geographic name Brooklyn (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):
Brooklyn (Sett.) was adopted in Place Names of PEI, 1925.Confirmed 25 April 1946 on 11L/2.Status changed to Locality in 1960 Gazetteer and to D.R.Comm. in 1973 Gazetteer.Status changed to Locality when Brooklyn became part of the Community of Valleyfield in 1974.
