Chelton (P.O.) was open from 1 May 1895 to 1 April 1924. Chelton (Sett.) was adopted in Place Names of PEI, 1925. Confirmed 2 August 1944 on 11L/5.Status changed to Locality in 1960 Gazetteer.Status confirmed as Locality 23 October 1989 on 203-8.
