The official history of the geographic name Dalvay by the Sea (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):

Dalvay by the Sea (NOT Dalvay house NOR Dalvey-by-the-Sea)(Sett.) was adopted 25 October 1966 on 11L/6h.Status changed to Locality when Dalvay by the Sea became part of the Community of North Shore in 1974. Status confirmed when it also became part of the Community of Grand Tracadie in 1984.
