History of the Name |
The official history of the geographic name Fairview (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):
Names so because of the extensive view of the surrounding country. (Postmaster, 1906). Webster Creek (P.O.) existed in 1855.Settlement was named Fairview in 1877 due to removal of school.Fairview (Sett.) was adopted in Place Names of PEI, 1925 at 46 10 - 63 14. Confirmed 12 December 1939 on 11L/3 and 6 May 1947 on c. 4405, 11L/2, 11L/3, 11E/11, and c. 4497. Application altered to 46 11 - 63 12 and status changed to Locality 5 May 1960 on 11L/3.Status confirmed as when it became part of the Community of Afton in 1974.
