The official history of the geographic name Grand River (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):
Originally approved as Ellis River (headwaters portion) and Grand River (lower portion) 2 Aug. 1944 on 11L/5.Entire feature approved as Ellis River 13 March 1947 on 11L/5. Reinstated as Grand River 25 Oct. 1966 on 21I/8.
