The official history of the geographic name Miscouche (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):

Miscouche (Sett., P.O.) was adopted in Place Names of PEI, 1925.Miscouche (Set t.) was confirmed 2 August 1944 on 11L/5.Miscouche (Vill.) was incorporated in 1957.Status changed to Hamlet in 1960 Gazetteer.Miscouche was incorporated as the Community of Miscouche in 1983 by the Municipalities Act. (1) Miscouche is a corruption of the Micmac name - Munuskooch - meaning "little grassy island". - PN of PEI, 1925.(2) Guinard in Les Noms indien de mons pays (p. 100) says Miscouche comes from the Micmac - "menisgotjg" - mean ing " petit marais".
