The official history of the geographic name Mount Stewart (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):
Mount Stewart (Set., P.O.) was adopted in Place Names of PEI, 1925. Status changed to Village 3 December 1946 on 11L/7.Incorporated as a Village in 1953.Status changed to Community by the Municipalities Act in 1983. Named after John Stewart, historian, whose home was here....... In 1806 he published 'Accounty of Prince Edward Island'.He died in 1834.- PN of PEI, 1925.
