The official history of the geographic name Tracadie (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):

Tracadie (Sta.) was adopted in Place Names of PEI, 1925.Status changed to Sett lement 3 December 1946 on 11L/7.Status changed to Station in 1960 Gazetteer. Status changed to Locality 16 November 1989 on 203-8.
