History of the Name

The official history of the geographic name Wilmot (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):

Wilmot (NOT Wilmot Creek) (Village Inc.) was adopted 24 November 1966 on 11L/5. Status changed to Locality when Wilmot became part of the Community of Wilmot i n 1983.Wilmot (Locality) became part of the City of Summerside of 1 April 1995 by the City of Summerside Act. Confirmed 17 June 1996 on 11L/5.
