The official history of the geographic name Abegweit Passage (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):

Approval on C.4406. Name derived from Micmac "Abahquit"-" lying parallel with the land"; often rendered loosely as "cradle in the waves". Toponyny Study I-by Allan Rayburn. See also letters on Chart 4406.
