The official history of the geographic name Alma (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):
Probable after battle of Alma in South Russia (Jamey Whit e). No. I do not think that it was named after battle gro und of same name in South Russia (Postmaster, 1905). Alma (Sett.) was adopted 3 December 1946 on 21I/16. Status changed to Locality on 23 October 1989 on 203-8.
