The official history of the geographic name Bangor (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):
Bangor (Sett.) was adopted in Place Names of PEI, 1925.Confirmed 3 December 1946 on 11L/7.Status changed to Locality in 1960 Gazetteer.Confirmed as a Locality 23 October 1989 on 203-8. The name was chosen from a gazetteer at a public meeting about 1879. - PN of PEI, 1925. The name was taken from an old English Dictionary at a public meeting, to select a name.Formerly called Indian Town Road.(Postmaster, 1905).
