History of the Name

The official history of the geographic name Bridgetown (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):

Bridgetown (Sett.) was adopted in Place Names of PEI, 1925. Confirmed 3 December 1946 on 11L/7.Status changed to Locality when Bridgetown became part of the Community of Central Kings in 1975. So named "from a bridge over Broughton River." - PN of PEI, 1925.
