The official history of the geographic name Brockton (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):
Named after Brockton, Mass, by myself. Formerly called Dock Road. (John McCarthy, postmaster, 1905). Brockton (Loc.) was adopted 3 December 1946 on 21I/16 Status confirmed 23 October 1989 on 203-8.
