The official history of the geographic name Brookfield (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):
As a stream of freshwater ran nearby the village, it was called Brookfield by the late Reverend Alexander Sutherla nd, who was at the time the pastor of the congregation. F ormerly called Prince Town Road. (Postmaster, 1905). Sutherland was a Presbyterian. - PN of PEI, 1925. Brookfield (Sett.)
