History of the Name

The official history of the geographic name Dundas (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):

Dundas (Sett.) was adopted in Place Names of PEI, 1925.Name changed to Dundas (Dundas Centre P.O.-B. de p.)(Sett.) 3 December 1946 on 11L/7. Post office closed in September 1969.Name changed to Dundas (Sett.) when Dundas Centre (P.O.) was rescinded 26 September 1972 on 11L/7. Status changed to Locality when Dundas became part of the Community of Central Kings in 1975. After George Dundas, Lieutenant Governor, 1859-68.- PN of PEI, 1925.
