The official history of the geographic name Greenmount (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):
Greenmount (Sett.) was adopted in Place Names of PEI, 1925. Confirmed 3 December 1956 on 21I/16.Status changed to Locality in 1960 Gazetteer.Status confirmed when Greenmount became part of the Community of Greenmount-Montros in 1977.
