History of the Name

The official history of the geographic name Harmony (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):

Harmony (Sett.) was adopted in Place Names of PEI, 1925. Harmony (NOT Harmony, Lot 13)(Sett.) was confirmed 3 December 1946 on 21I/9.Status changed to Locality in 1960 Gazetteer.Status confirmed as Locality when Harmony became part of the Community of Lady Slipper in 1983. "The name dates from 1875, when a school district was formed. As the settlers got along peaceably, though of many nationalities - French, Irish, Highland Scottish, Lowland Scottish, English, and Dutch - the name Harmony was selected. - PN of PEI, 1925.
