History of the Name |
The official history of the geographic name Kensington (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):
Kensington (Town) was incorporated in 1914.Confirmed in Place Names of PEI, 1925 and 2 August 1944 on 11L/5. The names list for the 1944 confirmation had Village by mistake, instead of Town. Name chosen at a community meeting in the early 1870s. Proposed by settlers of English extraction. -PN of PEI, 1925.
