History of the Name

The official history of the geographic name Kinkora (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):

Kinkora (Sett., P.O.) was adopted in Place Names of PEI, 1925. Confirmed as Kinkora (Sett.) 2 August 1944 on 11L/5.Status changed to Hamlet in 1960 Gazetteer.Status changed to Locality when Kinkora became part of the Community of Kinkora in 1983. The earliest settlers were here in 1835.Doubtless after Kincora ruins, near Killaloe, County Clare, Ireland. - PN of PEI, 1925.
